I need $600 to pay off my phone so I can leave my mother’s plan and go no contact. She found out I’m trans, and she didn’t take it well at all. I was raised in Missouri, and she lives there still. She’s already using this phone as leverage to force me to detransition. With the increasingly anti-trans legislation in Missouri, I’m afraid she might try to escalate matters legally.

The issue isn’t the fact I won’t have a phone, the issue is I’m legally liable for these $600 whether I attempt to transfer and/or cancel the plan, or if she decides to cancel it, which she’s currently threatening to do. If she cancels the plan and I can’t/don’t pay, she can take me to court in Missouri. I’m being advised by the pro bono lawyer handling my name/gender change to sever this legal liability ASAP, lest she escalates it further as retaliation, all things her legal firm has seen parents do.
